Do I leave my dog with you?
Yes, we ask that you leave your dog with us as we find they are calmer without their owner being present. We will normally take a contact number from you and give you a ring when your dog is ready to be collected.
Which breeds do you accept?
We accept all breeds of dog. Please give us a call if you wish to discuss this further.
How often should I bring my dog to be groomed?
This will depend on the breed of your dog and how much grooming you do at home between appointments. Some breeds require more grooming than others. A wool coated dog such as a bichon, poodle or poodle cross will ideally require grooming every 6 weeks. Other breeds such as collies or retrievers are more likely to need grooming every 8-12 weeks.
How much do you charge?
The cost for the groom will depend on the breed and how much work is involved. Bigger dogs, or ones who are very furry will be more time consuming and therefore will usually cost more to be groomed. If the dog has a lot of mats these will take time to remove and therefore an additional charge will be made for this. Please give us a call and we will be pleased to provide you with a quote.
I have to cancel/rearrange an appointment is this OK?
Yes, this is absolutely fine as we appreciate circumstances change. We do ask that you give as much notice as possible as we work on an appointment basis and will be unable to fill a cancelled appointment at short notice we reserve the right to make a charge for missed appointments or ones that are cancelled within 24 hours.
How long will the groom take?
On average, the groom will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours for dogs who come in regularly to be groomed. The appointment is likely to be longer if the dog hasn’t been groomed for a while as it will usually take longer to brush through and remove mats. The groom could also take longer if the dog is nervous as we will take our time and give regular breaks to ensure we keep the dog as calm as possible.
Should I walk my dog before I come for the appointment?
A short walk is recommended in order that your dog can relieve themselves and lose any excess energy. We do not recommend a long walk as the dog needs to be able to stand on the grooming table and this can be tiring in itself. We like a calm dog, but not one who’s asleep!
What if I don’t like my dog’s new haircut?
Please let us know! We keep record cards detailing each groom for this reason so that we know how the dog was groomed the last time and we can alter it accordingly. Sometimes, if the dog is very matted we need to clip off all the coat and therefore cannot provide you with your ideal style, but we always welcome feedback and will strive to provide you with a style you are happy with through regular grooming.
Can I still bring my bitch for grooming if she is in season?
As bitches tend to be more sensitive when they are in season we recommend that grooming is delayed until the season has finished. It would also unsettle any entire males who could be in the salon at the same time.
Can I still bring my dog if it has just been speyed/neutered?
We recommend that you delay the grooming appointment until after the dog has fully healed. If in doubt please check with your vet.
